I believe you can send the LPCM which is the same quality in 7.1 Audio. Unless you are talking about Dolby Atmos or DTS:X (object based surround sound) which are not at all supported by ATV 4K but supported by Nvidia Shield to passthrough. If flashing DTS-HD MA and TrueHD on AVR is so important, then may be you can buy Nvidia Shield.
Frankly I do have Nvidia shield and I am frustrated with the box. The problem is not Nvidia. The problem is Android and they will never learn. Including Plex, all the other apps hand and force close every other day. Like TED never worked in Shield. Games you install but hangs. Nvidia services are good but Android OS is like always be beta but bugs.!
no mkv support on AT4K is a bummer. But if Infuse can play mkv without transcoding, I wonder why Plex player cant? May be next update would fix it?
