when hevc is released will it be same bitrate better quality or same quality lower bitrate
same quality lower bitrate, however the clients have not been updated to display the lower bitrate and will essentially be lying to you about the bitrate
cool thnx thats good, going to run out of space using x264 so that will be a big help
So close from the new feature …
Can’t wait for tomorrow
its already the 22nd here
It’s 17:30 EST , 21-Jan-2025 here
I’m in GMT time zone. Where HEVC??
Plex Inc is based in Los Gatos, CA, USA, so I’m guessing it might be released at Midnight here (I’m in San Francisco, CA) -
However, there are 24 hours in a day, and there is no telling when they will decide to flip the switch…
Probobly tomorrow morning est once enough people are awake and caffeinated
As children, were y’all this bad on Christmas Eve?
LOL
All my stuff is already in x265, but I’m still excited for everyone!
Read the thread. This has nothing to do with the codec(s) your videos are stored in,
I’m curious. What did you think I mean?
@ChristianKent What jfreiman was probably trying to point you to is that it doesn’t matter if your videos are already stored in x265 or not. The current state is (or was) that if your x265 videos needed to be transcoded this was happening in x264 anyways, regardless of the container of your videos.
So you can not only be happy for everybody else, but for yourself too, as this affects you just as much as anybody else
But I’m not worried about that at all. Yet, still, as I’ve said, I’m happy for everyone who is eagerly awaiting this. I’m probably not even gonna turn this feature on. I’ll just wait a few months.
HEVC is live! it will show up naturally in the next 24 hours as cache refreshes or if your impatient like i know many of you are you can re-start your PMS.
Since this has left preview I am going to close this thread. Thank you all again for all your help, I am looking forward to seeing many of you again for my next preview!
