Hide movies i dont want to see?

Let’s say im using some kind of service for adding movies to my plex library.

Then let’s say I let my family members use that service as well to add movies they want to see.

I’m using only one library for movies and one for tv-shows.

Now, how would I hide those movies that others have added to plex, So I don’t see them when I browse the library and choose “unwatched”. But they should of course see them.

I don’t want to see tons of movies I have no intention of watching, ever.

But i don’t want to check all those movies as watched everytime.

So is there a way to always exclude certain movies? Like a reverse “only show these labels to a user”…

Let’s say that if some kinda service can detect who requested/added the media, then maybe some kinda service could put the medias into separate libraries?

PMS itself has no control over 3.Party tools, it simply sees medias added

Sorry, i was unclear in my OP.
I do not want multiple libraries. I want one library for movies and one for shows.
And a way to hide movies/shows that others have added.

i thought perhaps i could use the label function (In sharing) and hide all items that has a specific label, instead of just allowing specific labels.

Sadly, that’s not possible, since as said, PMS have no way of knowing, who added what!

Only time can tell what the future might bring, but not possible now

If you want to hide movies completely from view for others you must put only what you want to share in Libraries that you only share with those users. Like you wouldn’t put X-Rated material in a Library you share with Kids.

You can create a ‘Dead Letter Office’ so to speak, by putting movies in Collections, then hiding the movies in those collections, then sort those collections to the bottom of the library - they’ll still be visible to all, but not as easy to stumble into.

I use the label function as I have some movies that everyone wants to watch and some that certain individuals don’t want to watch etc.

The problem/hassle with labels is that you can only choose to allow movies with a given label which means I end up adding labels to nearly (but not all) every movie.

TV shows are easy to label because you add the label once at the show level, and new season/episodes adopt that label.

My labels are called “OK for …” and basically block out horror for my sister, sci-fi for my parents and anything not age-appropriate for my nieces. I then put the relevant label into the restrictions section under “Users and Sharing”).

Of course, this means checking every new movie and adding the label, but it is “secure” in that, if I forget, the movie isn’t seen - which is important esp. for my nieces.

The restrictions label method is best if there are multiple viewing options to the movie:

  • I want
  • he/she wants
  • we both want
  • person 1 and 2, but not 3 etc etc

It’s easiest to have 2 libraries if it’s binary:

  • I want
  • he/she wants
  • (but we never both want)

Hope this helps.
