Hide PGS tracks in the UI

Hello,

I like keeping my ripped blurays in MKV with everything in them. That includes multiple audios and subtitles.
However, while my NAS can transcode a movie to 720p just fine, it will stutter if it has to burn PGS in. For that reason I always OCR the PGS to srt and use that in direct stream instead.

My request is this: Would it be possible to offer options to “hide” image based tracks in the UI? So that the end user can’t select it?

If the end user has a Plex client which supports PGS subtitles, he can perfectly use these PGS subs.

No, it’s not possible to hide tracks within a mkv file. However, if these were external PGS files, you can instruct PMS to ignore specific files.

Id love such a feature as well.

If hiding incompatible subs isnt an option, how about some way to notify users? Marking subs that are incompatible on the used platform a specific way?

Its a little annoying to see users transcoding files just because they dont realize pgs isnt working great on their platform and when this easily could have been avoided, had they opted to download an srt alternative
