It would be nice if there was a setting to choice for the TV show episode description to be hidden if a show is still unwatched. I don’t like reading it for shows I haven’t seen.
Years ago I can’t remember if not was plex or XMBC this use to be an option
I have just been using the beautiful PlexConnect on the Apple TV 3 and it does this. It has so much refinement but I was too curious about the TV OS Plex App. I now have the Plex App on an Apple TV 4 and while it looks generally schmicker it really needs this feature. I just went to watch the next unseen episode of a show and saw everything that was going to happen in the synopsis!
Agree, this needs to be made an option in the settings. 8-|

This was definitely in Plex before. It would be really handy for some anime shows where people read “Description” and type the entire script of an episode into TVDB.
Yes! Surely this is something simple they can implement quickly. Of course the problem is the metadata. I am not familiar with TVDB enough to understand the revision policies, but is it possible to take the case to them?
I do not really see that this is needed. On all the clients I regularly use (Roku, Fire TV, Raspberry Pi [PMP] and the web interface) the description is only displayed on the deepest screen that can be reached. If you wish to play an episode without seeing the description all you need do is press play on the episode before drilling down that one extra level.
Watched or unwatched the description is never displayed until you reach that last screen.
In fact I would like for all the clients to have an optional “pop out” (a small text box) that would go in an unused part of the screen and contain the first part of the description whenever an episode is highlighted. Some older clients (like RARflix on the Roku) have this and I like it a lot.
While I firmly believe that the dearth of optional feature in the newer clients is a step backward for Plex I think this particular one would server a need that does not exist and thereby unnecessarily complicate the code.

Unless an episode is locked, any logged in user can edit the description. But there are many many episodes that have overly verbose descriptions.
