Anyone know if it’s possible to increase the cache?
hi,
you can increase it to 30%. i amassuming that this means 30% of file size.
it might be interesting to express cache it seconds or in mo. though this may be a false good idea...

hi,
i've been experimenting with this. it defintely has nothing to do with cache. on some videos my cache is at ~60 mo and i get big stutter.
as has been suggested elsewhere, this problem seems to be linked to dts-hd audio streams (normal dts seems ok).

did you try enabling audio passthrough from the config.txt? it works with most videos.
hello dansvarre,
i have indicated in the rasplex gui that my tv manages dts as well as ac3. are you referring to "hdmi_force_edid_audio=1" ?
it sounds similar, though i suppose it wouldn't hurt to try. thanks for the tip.

ok,
i tried this. no change of behaviour (i.e. playback stutters).
wondering if problem not due to relatively high bitrate of most dts-hdma streams. ac3 may work better because 640 kbs max.
- scott
with the force_edid command i can play dts with 1500kbps. dts-hd just shows as plain dts.
did you overclock?
hello again dansvarre,
i do not overclock ; i didn't want the rpi to overheat. what would you suggest as a safe level ?
when i tried the force_edid command i go the following :
* the rasplex said it was outputing dts-hdma
* my tv said it was receiving dts
i'm not really sure where the dts core is being stripped out...
are there any other settings you used in addition to force_edid ? thanks !
- scott
I’m using cpu 930, core 450, ram 450 and overvoltage 3.
The pi can’t passthrough DTS-hdma but only DTS. It’s missing some code/license stuff.
hello,
yes. so this would mean “I” command is showing the input to rpi. good to know.
should passing the core from a dts-hdma stream be taking much cpu power ?

Hi all,
I just got my rpi, 512mb and on a clean install of rasplex, running off USB, not SD, I am also seeing the frequent stutter/ buffer with 1080p, high bitrate files. I'm also experiencing an "audio stutter" where just the audio stutters for a split second, no visual stutter.
I only noticed the audio stutter in 1080p files, 720p seems to be working really well. Has anyone come across that?
rpi is running CPU 950, Core and RAM 450, overvoltage 6, as per recommended values. I have also enabled AC3 and DTS passthrough in the GUI as well as set hdmi_force_edid_audio=1 in config.txt.
I use wired network and the rpi is plugged into the same switch as the Plex Media Server.
A big thank you for the hard work the rasplex and plex team has put into bringing us this software!
Let me know if you need more info/ log files and I'll download them.
Cheers
Did you try less overvoltage ?
Did you try less overvoltage ?
I have set it to 2 now, will do some testing later today.
I use PLEX on powerfull machine
XEON, 2*250GB SSD, 4*3TB HDD 32GB RAM
I don't think, that this is issue with plex server computer. I have problem with playback on Windows Phone, XBOX One and Samsung Smart TV. Bitrate is arround 25mbps. All devices are wire connected.
The minimum requirements for rasplex suggest a class 10+ sd card and from what ive read, you need at least this to stream 1080p content flawlessly. Perhaps some of you with this issue don't have a very good spec SD card? I actually found that with a class 4 SD card you can't even boot rasplex even though you can boot NOOBS. Im guessing some of the caching happens on the SD card and if the transfer rate isnt capable enough it wont be able to cope?
