Recently, I have purchased a Synology DS218play, following video instructions from YouTube but when i’m trying to play films with Plex and only with Plex (It works with Kodi and Synology Video Station), every films doesn’t work correctly but with others media players, they work correctly with no lag. I don’t know how to make it work.
Most important question on a Synology NAS; Are you using (and burning) subtitles in the player settings ?
No and i don’t think that it’s the cause, when i’m trying to play a film, the only thing produced is a limitless loading like there :
Go into the Server - Settings - Troubleshooting and Download Logs
Please attach the ZIP file it gives you now, while it’s fresh. I will look.

HEVC on the ARMv8 transcoded: The CPU itself isn’t strong enough to do both the decode and the re-encode to H.264
Video Station has access the the CPU transcoding hardware under license (which we were denied)
Kodi works because it reads, decodes and directly renders on the HDMI.

So i can’t playing films in Plex with my DS218play ?
Other Synology items working correctly with Plex in HEVC ?
Yes. Any Synology with a J3455 CPU (Intel) (e.g. DS918+ ) and a Plex Pass will solve the problem.

Oh too expensive, it doesn’t exist an other solution ? An update can be available in the future ?
There are other NAS vendors. The list shows all compatible vendors and their products.
We tried to get access to it but were denied.
