I have recently purchased the lifetime subscription hoping to be able to play HEVC files and to stream them to Internet for my family. Unfortunately this is exactly where it fails no matter if the file is 720, 1080 or 4K 10 bit HDR, I get the above message. Hardware cannot be a limitation since on the same NAS, the free Jellyfin server plays them without problems. I prefer Plex because of the interface and all the goodies, but in the end I need it to play files. Same message is shown on Apple TV in the same network with NAS and web clients in the internet. At home network is Gigabit and all devices are connected by cable
Can you please make sure DEBUG logging is enabled and then recreate the playback failure so the details will be in the logs ?
After doing that, please download the logs and attach here. I’ll go through them and see what’s not happening.

I must add that after chaging the quallity settings on the Apple TV to Direct play, videos are working on the Apple TV, still not working in the browser from the internet

What is that? External E-SATA drive?
Synology external drives are inherently slower than internal.
I don’t know why it said “not powerful enough”. It should (AFAIK) have reported something else about failure.
Thank you! I use a fast SSD connected to esata, thinking that it will be faster than regular drives in the NAS. Plex user had write access to this drive, but I have changed the buffer to default location and there is no change, I have even reinstalled the server, no luck

For the movie you selected, because you have subtitle burning, the NAS doesn’t have the CPU power (now the error makes sense).

Here you can see it has:
- Found and validated the HW transcoding for the video.
- Knows it’s converting EAC3 to AAC
- Determined it must burn the subtitles into the video using the CPU (not hardware)
Synology CPUs are not strong enough, unless its a Xeon, to burn in subtitles.
Two things to check:
- Check the player settings. It should be set for Automatic subtitle burning for best results.
- In the video itself, check the type of subtitles. If PGS, VOBSUB, or DVDRIP then consider pre-burning them into the image --OR-- converting/finding with Text based subtitles (SRT, ASS, SSA). SRT subtitles are the best to have. SRT are sent with the video as a 3rd stream.

However it is strange why Jellyfin has absolutely no problem with above mentioned videos, including a 4K HEVC 10 bit video, that Plex is not playing at all.
