my atv2 is jailbroken and uses the deb file from wahlman.j to connect via plexconnect to my pms. now that companion apps like openconnect and openplex are getting more and more support and updates i would like to switch to them, but keep the installed PlexConnect Icon(addsite hack) that is installed via the deb file.
tl:dr -> host plexconnect on mac via openconnect or openplex (not on jailbroken atv itself)
use PlexConnect Icon(AddSite hack) as hijacked app
is this possible ?
Not sure I follow your comment. The .deb’s I created based on baa’s original method are used for the appletv itself to install a plexconnect app and keep it up to date automatically if desired. The app’s I designed the code for OpenPlex and OpenConnect are only for OSX. You cannot manage your jailbroken appletv from these apps at this time. You can switch to these apps on your mac it will not remove anything on your jailbroken atv2. You can use both at the same time for example:
Plexconnect app via plexconnect.deb
OpenPlex or OpenConnect to hijack a separate app
At one time I was hijacking three apps on my jb atv2. I called this poor man’s myplex fastuser switching using the two examples above and a bag.plist
