Hisense U7QFT (2020) buffers all the time with 4k HEVC HDR10

Im viewing the files from the Plex server (1.18.6 synology) via the “Media app” on the TV. Synology doesnt transcode or something and network is Gbit. Synology seems to be serving 100Mbit peak data transfer to the TV.

TV is correctly reading the file (4K res, HEVC, HDR10, tv goes in HDR mode) and send the correct audio format to the AVR via ARC.
Movie starts ok but after a couple of minutes or maybe with some more frame motion it start stuttering and buffering every 3-5 sec.
I tested two different movies but the same happens with increased motion on the frames.

Any ideas?

Plex server is not recoding the file at all. CPU usage on the server is minimum. :S

So in essence you think that the TV/CPU cant keep up with the decoding precess?

It flickers between nothing and this:

does the page flickering between nothing in dashboard and this… means something? or its just my Safari?
Thanks

I think that its the network… probably the TV has 100Mbit as I can see a “hard limit” on the traffic to the TV and when the scenes go a bit crazy and the frame bit rate go crazy up the network hits the limit (my network is cool, pro/managed switch). Then its starts chopping the frames :S

EDIT: both Plex and build in synology DLNA only use 10%CPU, so no problems there I think.

thanks Ill play with handbreak. Im not to 4k TVs
Mainly a PC/Mac/UNIX and audio guy.

If you’ve a strong 5 GHz WiFi signal at the TV, try WiFi instead of a wired connection. On many TVs, WiFi is not limited to 100 Mbps and can provide a better connection than wired Ethernet.

I don’t think it will help your current situation, but choose a Dolby Digital/AC3 audio track if possible, instead of TrueHD. TVs do not support TrueHD audio, so it must convert it to a supported format before passing it to your AVR. Audio conversion is not processor intensive, but if you can reduce the load on the TV’s CPU you should do so.

hehehe sad to hear but Ill test of course!
Im on Cisco pro setup so I think Ill be ok.

Thanks a lot.

I’ve an LG B7 OLED. It connects to my Asus router at 433 Mbps (PHY layer) via 802.11AC.

Actual throughput won’t be at that rate of course, but I do see bursts above 100 Mbps.

thanks Ill test. This was the 30GB Matrix test via Eth.

Crazy but true!
Via wifi the file played with a steady 130-140mbit…
I cant believe even 2000gbp TVs have 100mbit Eths

Regarding the plex app. It’s already installed and I get the known security error. I dont see an update (i dont think i know how to update apps in this lame OS)
