HLS Streaming

Does Rasplex currently support encrypted HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) content? I'm trying to use this Plex channel on my Pi with Rasplex and it fails to play. Reading the developer FAQ, it looks as though the lack of encrypted HLS support is causing the issue.

Is this something that could be supported in the near future?

Thanks

Q: When will NFL Gamepass live content work on Plex/HT?

A: Just like with the roku client, Plex/HT has the same bug where eHLS streams don’t send cookie data correctly. This bug will be fixed once Plex/HT merges with XBMC version Gotham. I have no timeline for this at the moment, but I’m sure this will happen in the not to distant future.

This applies for RasPlex too (because we use PlexHT too). Thus we need to wait for a stable XBMC 13 release (which is currently still in alpha).
If I were you, I would just ask for back-porting this feature into the current PlexHT builds at the PlexPass forums…

Thank you for the swift reply.

If they were to include the HLS into PlexHT soon, would that likely make it to Rasplex in a future build?

Does the current Rasplex build (0.2.2) support non-encrypted HLS streams?

  1. RasPlex does support HLS streams.

  2. We pull our PlexHT version from the Plex repo. Thus it would be more or less easy to pull new stuff into RasPlex if it’s there.
