Hockey Streams channel

Hi all,

As some NHL fans may be aware, it's possible to watch high quality GameCenter streams without a subscription.  I wrote this channel last year during the playoffs to make viewing them easier, and I've improved it with some community input for the new season.

It's available on GitHub here: https://github.com/pudds/Hockey.bundle

Or you can download the zip files directly from here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BwIS6HHpnVljcGJFSEhzcmUxVTg#list

I'll try to answer any questions that come up here, but another option which will probably get you a quicker answer is here: http://www.reddit.com/r/HockeyStreams/

Game streams should become visible early in the morning, but cannot be opened until 20 minutes before game time.  Streams are not adaptive, but you can set your stream quality in the preferences (in kbps) to 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 3000 or 4500.  The default is 3000.

I've personally tested the channel on iOS, Google TV (Revue), Windows and Apple TV (via PlexConnect).  Reports are that it works correctly on Android, Roku and Mac OSX as well.

I was able to load the channel fine... the games all show up but the I get an error (or a time out) when playing back any of the video streams.  No video ever loads.  Tried it from windows and from android.

I've put a new version up for download if you want to give that a try.

I have been trying to get this to work on my Plex Media Center, but whenever I select a stream to play, Plex just crashes.

This plugin is awesome! Thanks!

I tried both the 2.0 version and the 1.03.

2.0 seemed to be off by a day, it was reporting "Today" as yesterday, and when I went to "tomorrow" which was actually today, video couldn't be found.

Using 1.03, dates were recognized correctly, so I'm not sure what the deal was. Plex Server running on Win 7, Client was a Roku.

I dropped this bundle into the right directory, but Plex doesn't see it.  Any assistance?

Turns out it wasn't the right directory after all.  I've got it figured now, however.

Thanks anyway folks.

First off, Pudds you are a  GENIUS and a God!!!. I can not thank you enough for this. I loaded the bundle 3 days ago and it was working flawless with HD stream quality.  Now this evening I was looking forward to watching Boston get schooled  but when I launch the "App" I get "No Game could be found".   I tried a few things and was contacted by a buddy who also has this setup. He gets the same message?.  Is the fun over?. Should I take up knitting?.

Canaduh is desperate :)

Much love!

Anyone have this working? I need me some Hockey!

I try this and it crashes Plex Media Center and doesn't play from Web either...

My Buddy has a VPN with NHL Gamecenter and I want to share with him but I don't think I can share his VPN login....

Looking at the info on Reddit, it appears that this channel is down due to some changes.  I think it is being worked on (praying).....There is a VLC option posted on Reddit. click the link in the first post.

I wrote a plugin for HockeyStreams.com for Plex, but you need to pay for a subscription on their site to use it.

Tell 'em FredenFromSweden sent ya!

Pudds;

As I'm sure you know GCL converted to json streams, any chance you are going to get a chance to look at your plex NHL channel? It is by far the easiest way to watch.

Thanks,

I guess I basically abandoned this thread, sorry about that, last look it only had a single reply.

The most recent info is always available in the reddit link posted above.  The plugin was updated a couple weeks ago to use a new source.  It still suffers from a lack of client support however, thanks to the encryption change in October.  PlexConnect, Roku and a few others work, and all will work with replays (which are in the newest version), but other clients will not work with live streams.

iOS was well supported until the most recent Plex Client update, but unfortunately the switch to a custom video player has broken playback there now too.

Hi Pudds....I watched the Canucks beat the snot out of the Bruins via the new IOS upgrade not a problem !?.  thank you again for this, nothing short of amazing...

Oh really?  That's very interesting and potentially good news.  I haven't upgraded yet, but I had some reports from reddit users who indicated that the streams weren't working on the new version.  If they still are, that would be very good news.  I'll have to upgrade my wife's iphone and give it a try I guess.

Sorry it appears i was wrong. I now am unable to stream live on osi I can view recaps from earlier games

I must say that previous version 2.0.3 worked better instead of 2.1.0.

Worked fine with Samsung Smart TV.

Worked fine with Android KitKat.

I was able to choose the streaming bandwidth.

Now - none of the players that I am currently using are working - Samsung smart TV - Android KitKat. The only solution was to downgrade back to 2.0.3 version.

Man I miss this plug-in.. I had hopes with the updated IOS Plex app it would magically bring life back WELL....there seem to be some life. I am able to play any content but live stream....I think it is just in need of a "tweaK"??.....Pudds ill pay you for your time ;)

Any updates?
