I would rather not have to do this manually (tagging) as Plex Agents don’t always tag them as Christmas related and needs some external help to be able to tag these appropriately. The IMDB list looks promising or maybe Trakt.tv has something that can be used.
If anyone has anything working that does this in an automated fashion, please share how you have done this.
Thanks, I just checked and I do have seasonal movies setup on my library but don’t see where they show up in Plex. Is there some process that needs to occur before I can see this?
The “Seasonal Movies” option in the library management settings is a custom list that we make and if you happen to have those movies in your library as well they will be displayed as a row on the library recommended screen or home screens that are selected. We have not created/activated that yet as far as I know this year. So it won’t show anything yet if enabled. I don’t know when we will. I’m guessing we will probably wait til after Thanksgiving but not sure.
Thanks, that is why I am not seeing them, I also never saw Halloween show up but maybe that was not a list that was created.
In the interim, I am giving Plex-Meta-Manager a try to see if this will create the collections I am looking for. I have a playlist that I created for Christmas for example but there doesn’t seem to be a way to convert it to a Collection. My wife hates the playlist view as she wants to see the posters instead similar to how you browse the Movies section so I am trying to convert to Collection as this gets the view that I am looking for.
PMM is the bomb, does everything I need to create automatic collections and allows me to customize to whatever I need. There are a lot of integrations with other services that make this an awesome add-on to get the end result I need. Highly recommended.
Any idea if that seasonal recommendation list will be activated any time soon? As cool as Plex-Meta-Manager sounds, an integrated solution would be nice.
They haven’t activated it so there isn’t one. They turned it on last year for Christmas and never turned it on again. I would have thought they would have at least used it for Halloween, but it seems that it has been forgotten.
