Like in a video, there is a sort order, so you can name your video one thing, but then have it sorted by a different name. I'd like that on the home screen. I have Movies and TV shows, but I also have Kids Movies and Kids TV shows (so I can restrict them to just those). Well kids stuff comes first and it would be nice to put those on the bottom.
Example current:
Kids Movies
Kids TV Shows
Movies
TV Shows
Example with sort order:
Movies (sort name Adult Movies)
TV Shows (sort name adult TV Shows)
Kids Movies (sort name zKids Movies)
Kids TV Shows (sort name zKids TV Shows)
I know this seems minor and lazy, and it might be, but it's something that would be really nice.
This is a total work-around... but I have discovered that you can somewhat control the sorting of Home Screen Libraries by putting a "space" before the name of a specific Library and it will at least appear at the top of that Library type.
I think I've seen another thread asking for this functionality somewhere. I'd definitely be a fan of this. I'm not sure if they would have to implement it at the server or client level, but I'd love to see it either way. Would be even better if they could be sorted by each user. Maybe we wouldn't even need a sort name, they could just allow us to sort them by drag and drop or something.
Also, while I'm as lazy as the come, I don't think laziness is the main motivation for this (speaking of, I do have a "Fitness" library that gets used far less than my "TV Shows" library...so maybe laziness is a factor for me haha). It's really just about efficient navigation, which increases usability. Besides, if you look at something like Amazon (or really any online retailer), they don't list their departments alphabetically, and they shouldn't.
I'll try to find the other thread(s) so we can try and get all the likes in one place. This is a minor thing, but it should be fairly simple compared to other requests the devs are working on, so hopefully it'll catch their attention for a quick win.

A sort order would be nice. At the moment i have solved it by adding numbers to each category:
1 - TV Shows
2 - Movies
3 - Animated
4 - Music
etc...
That's how I have always done it, it actually looks quite nice indicating library number.
The only difference is I don't use the dash, instead just 1. 2. 3. 4.
