not sure if most of you know or not but you can get to your plex library and stream it fine if you just use the Samsung Internet Browser in Oculus. Pull up the plex.tv site and login and you can stream anything. It’s not a theater but the experience is actually quite good and has worked for me very well.
me want bad samsung gear vr and occulus support. me give big wompum for it
For those of you with an Oculus Rift, you may wish to look into Virtual Desktop
You can use the above in combo with the standard desktop PLEX Client.

I have been working for it for a month. I have an Oculus Video player modified to use Plex as a source, it’s been very hard work but it does work. It’s basic but it supports browsing the full library, thumbnails and transcoding.I am about to make a post in third party apps describing it with a demo video.
The core features are implemented, it just needs a code tidy up and some performance fixes and it will be ready for alpha.
Support both a home theater view and the void which everyone has requested.
So what ever happened to this? No comments/posts since April. Was this just some wannabe flapping his lips/fingers because I haven’t seen a single video corroborating his story?
Please add support for Plex for the gear VR. When this feature is available?
Davidpbj not sure where your sense of entitlement comes from, but if I were that guy I would charge you triple.
Would love it
OttoKerner,
So since you are just going around closing VR discussions, does that mean there is a confirmed client in the works or are you just dismissing several valuable pieces of feedback to try and tidy up the forums?
Nothing was dismissed. All the feedback is still there. He just closed threads that were splitting votes, so votes will have more impact.
would like to see plex on SteamVR for the HTC Vive and Rift.
Yes please. Would love it.
+1 Plex integrating Gear VR compatibility
+1 Gear VR. Make it just like Netflix. Nice room with a simulated large screen TV.
I installed Pigasus on my S7 and its a great app for my S7 -> Plex -> Gear VR setup. Thanks hanginhatstudios. I tried a lot of different apps and your is the best solution. I love that I can launch it from the Oculus app.
4$ for a working solution… very reasonable.
You can request an Oculus key for it here : http://hanginghatstudios.com/pigasus
I’m a bit disappointed that Plex doesn’t have a solution for this yet. Lets get those votes in yeah!
ohh and I used this in order to stream audio from Pigasus: https://www.reddit.com/r/GearVR/comments/5c75g1/best_video_player_out_there/d9ub3bl/
+1 – This would be very nice if PLEX Android/iOS can have an VR mode option to split screens to be viewed with any VR headset. Imagine, I’ll be able to select and watch a movie (that had been already sync on my phone) with my VR headset during my next trip by plane… That would be very cool
Working Option For VR and Plex - Android Verified - VRTV Free & Paid can play VR content from plex. On you Android Plex app, Navigate to Settings/Advanced/Player/ then choose use External Player and select VRTV (You might have to reset your default player to this in the Android App Settings) and Vola VR content streamed from Plex.
Side note. I highly recommend to optimize for mobile on Plex for the content you want to view. It makes the experience more seemless.

Tried this last night. Can verify it works if you encode on the front-end properly. No sound for tradition MKV ripping…have to re-encode to MP4 to get the sound working. Unless I’m missing something. Thanks for the heads up on this, though!
Any update here? Seem to be lots of interface changes, and the pigasus solution works from a very barebones level - but i would like the true plex app so 1) i can have a standard view 2) synced items for when i am traveling and off wifi 3) ability to stream when i am on wifi but a diff network than my home server. The need for this is only growing and it’s been requested for almost 2 years now. Can you let us know IF it is coming or we should look to build our own or where it is on your roadmap?
All this discussion and we get a Daydream app. Ugh.
