How Can I Make Permanent The Artist Name In 'Artist' Column In Plex

Morning! I was wondering if anyone knew how I could permanently have the artist’s name show up under the ‘Artist’ column. Some entries have the Artist name show up consistently and others never do unless I go in and manually add it (and even when doing so, every time a refresh is done, the artist space under those particular entries go back blank).

And yes, the artist name is in the metadata. I completed a nearly year-long project of updating ALL 10k+ music files I have with HQ album artwork and completed fields (artist, album artist, release date, song title, etc.)

If you guys, need any additional info from me, I’ll be happy to provide! Thanks in advance!!

When you add the Artist name, the lock icon on the field turns orange. Make sure to leave it this way. Orange means “locked.” When the lock is enabled, refreshes should not overwrite your changes. (There have been some incidents where the lock fails to protect the field. I’m not sure what the status of that issue is.)

If you are confident in the completeness and accuracy of your embedded tags, you might consider configuring Plex to “prefer local metadata,” if you haven’t already.

Thank you! I will try that!

Plex currently does not distinguish between ‘album artist’ and ‘track artist’ internally.

Using the old music agent, one could go in and edit the python to not remove the track artist field, but I don’t think that works with the current plex music agent.
