How do I create Channels?

Hello all you smart people :)  I'm totally new to Plex and just recently figured out how to use it with my tv. I'd like to be able to create Canadian tv plugins but am clueless to what is needed.  So I'll ask my dumb question and see if I learn anything, lol.  First, where would I create the plugins; do I just start typing in Wordpad or MS Office or is there something else I should be using.  Second, to I need to use all of these templates to create a single plugin or does each template do something different for things other than plugins.  Third, I've gone on Github and downloaded and installed plugins (I finally figured out where to put them, lol)  and some of them show up in the video channels but some don't.  I'm at a loss as to why they won't work.  I think I could create a channel if I could see a working channel's programming but I don't know how to open the channel programming.   As I said, I'm clueless, but willing to learn :)

I just figured out how to see the actual programing on Discovery Canada channel and so I have another question.  Is it possible to use that code and just change the website info url and have it work for another channel?

It is best to ask any questions about Channel Development as an individual new topic in the Channel Development forum. This is a pinned topic just to provide new developers access to the templates and information relating to those templates.

For the most part no, unfortunately it's not that simple.

I printed off info from Plex development support and am trying to make my way through it.  Its a bit daunting but hopefully I'll figure it out, lol.  I'll try to make sense of it and then ask specific questions.  I appreciate the quick replies from you and Shopgirl.
