How do I find who ticks the dislikes in my posts?

I have noticed dislikes on several of my posts that have no reason whatsoever to be “disliked”.
I think a member or 2 are just be jerks.
If I can find who did the dislike I am sure the same name on many will prove my suspicions.

I got one dislike because I asked if there was a Kodi skin that looked like PMP, so ultimately I decided that I don’t give a f about dislikes…

I have always considered like/dislikes/LOL/WTF and the rest to really mean about the same thing: That people are reading my posts and paying homage to my eloquence.

It is doubtful that most people really value their like/dislike ratio. I also figure that the “badges” and other junk we see on this board is really of very little value. The only thing that really matters to me is if I get responses, provide some help, stimulate some discussion and gain incite from the discourse on this and other boards.

Of course those that dislike “my” posts are the lowest forms of cretins.

  1. That’s your ‘Fan Base’ checking in. If you have irritated someone (you KNOW who it is and only requires you being a sentient organism, holding an opinion different from theirs), or can identify The Plex Forum Troll (you also KNOW who that is) rest assured they will dislike nearly every post you make. As @Elijah_Baley points out; wear it like a badge of honor, ignore it, or for every one Dislike they give you reciprocate with 10 of your own. It’s a Hoot - and also demonstrates in no uncertain terms how useless those voting options are as they are sooooooo easy to exploit by the Forum Whiner and The Forum Troll.

  2. There are 2 of these. Both from the UK. Not even as hard to find as Waldo. Also note most of your dislikes will be generated about the time the Pub closes - no doubt another source of irritation for them, but when they try to troll the real-time-existing-on-the-scene population that results in a broken nose so it’s on to Plex Forums to hate on someone without fear of physical engagements.

  3. See #1 and #2.

Additional Note: It’s basically a shortcoming of the internet wherein these aforementioned types can thrive and multiply and is what has made online team based public gaming a complete waste of time. The ‘Funny-Boy(s)’ join your team and their personal mission is destroy any enjoyment you may derive from the activity.

Many people dislike being publicly proven wrong and enjoy the anonymous spite that this stupid forum feature offers.

As the others said, don’t pay attention. A few weeks ago I offered a counter opinion here to someone else in a lively discussion. To my surprise I found that about an hour later, I had a dislike on every single one of my previous posts, some even that were posted to thank a guru for helping me solving an issue. It was there and then that I realized the like/dislike etc system here is utterly silly and I basically wish Plex would just disable it together with the pointless badges.

Either way I just utterly ignore it and post in the best way I know how to - and if that makes some people care enough to visit my profile and start paying attention to my every post, I can only be proud to have made a difference in the life of that one person :stuck_out_tongue:

Yup, same just happened to me today. Some people like to use those things out of spite, rather than any honest purpose.

I notice on Vanilla’s own forums, they only have positive options, aside from the ‘Flag.’ Maybe, if this abuse gets out of hand, they can just remove the WTF and dislike tags. Let the children find a better way to express themselves.

We’ve been there for months.

they can just remove the WTF and dislike tags.

I like it! I would suggest leaving the WTF as the meaning of that is ambiguous. It could mean; surprise, offence, excitable agreement, disillusionment, utter disgust, or I laughed so hard I soiled 'em. The mystery is part of the charm.

Let the children find a better way to express themselves.

That stuff will make 'em go blind, you know.

If there is a “like” then there has to be a dislike or it is even more meaningless than it is now, if that is possible.

However anonymous like/dislike is so meaningless as to be irrelevant to people with IQs above the “Meaning of life.”

When someone checks like/dislike they should be required to give a reason of at least 10 words and their ID should be attached to the response. If people don’t have the guts or self esteem to back up their opinions with reasons and feel the need to hide their identity even more than the internet does in the first place then their views have less than zero value.

Vanilla’s forums show who ticked which response, so that’s possible.

Don’t let a few dislikes get you down! If at any point you feel threatened or egregiously mistreated, feel free to PM me.

Does that include the active an ongoing practices of The Plex Forum Troll ( @spikemixture 's ‘New Friend’ ) who set up shop here some time ago and operates (even this very day) with complete impunity? When public responses cease the attacks continue to Private Messaging - one of which you have now been included in.

The last efforts to have an ‘Employee’ effectively deal with the situation went nowhere and your Forum Troll is still plying the waters around here so the problem remains unresolved.

If you’re going to be ‘the big hammer’ at this ironworks feel free to have a look around the Android/AFTV and SHIELD Server forums 'cause those are the dark, moist caves in which The Plex Forum Troll keeps all his stuff.

I left a WTF on someone once… Asked a question (one of my first after subscribing here) and I got a smart a… disrespectful backhanded slap of a response. I was really discouraged by it. So, I consider the WTF or DISLIKE a solid alternative to replying in standard internet “keyboard warrior I will throttle you!” attitude so prevalent on forums. It gives you an outlet when someone is a jerk as really I’d like this forum to be a solid place to go for technical information, tips, tricks, that kind of thing not for some social need to put others down or be a general jerk.

Just sayin’, it is better as a community to have petty “dislike” or “WTF” than to have troll fest flame wars. I have not clue why original poster was disliked, and who knows maybe I have been, it don’t matter, but when I was on the other hand I view it as better than returning “jerkiness” for “jerkiness”. Click a button and move on!

(/me sits back and waits for the “fan mail” to come in!)

Can add me too this list of unwelcome WTF, 5 from one discussion about the refresh function being a bug. Which now has been debunked by a Plex Employee.
Refresh functions as it is intended, so it’s not a bug.

Anyway who cares, it’s not a competition. Tells me it’s a lively and interesting discussion that now has been resolved and put to sleep for now.

I have lost no sleep over the dislikes.

I make a point of rewarding /acknowledging a good or informative post by clicking the appropriate box.
And have clicked a few dislikes when I disagree with that particular post.

And yes many love the anonymity of forum boards.
But as we are already anonymous is it strange the like/dislike/etc info can not be logged?

In general, however, Vanilla is a pretty braindead, handicapped and non-intuitive forum software. WTF is “Mark category viewed” under “Account options”??? And no Tapatalk support, eye-scalding theme… the list goes on.

I see The Plex Forum Troll has shown up to thumb his nose at any implied existence of authority around here.
