How do I stop Unnecessary Transcoding of Surround sound Audio?

I use PLEX 99% of the time for lossless stereo audio streaming (FLAC). I am now adding concert videos and other surround sound music like DVD-A and Blu-ray Audio. (DTS)

  • The issue is the PLEX server is down grading the audio to AAC.
  • Ideally we would have the options to turn off Audio transcoding.
  • Also while the TV does support the file format, it shouldn’t matter because all the audio is being “passed-through” to the A/V receiver. There needs to be a “A/V Receiver” option in PLEX apps.

The LG OLED65CXPUA TV supports a variety of audio formats, including:

  • Dolby Atmos: The TV supports Dolby Atmos for virtual surround sound
  • DTS: The TV supports DTS, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced Audio codecs
  • AAC: The TV supports AAC audio
  • Dolby Digital: The TV supports Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus audio
  • MP3: The TV supports MP3 audio
  • WMA: The TV supports Windows Media Audio (WMA) version 7 or later
