how does.bif support work

i’m using 1.10.1.4602 and i’m trying to understand how .bif support works

I already have a .bif file in the directory with my media file it was created by Emby … I perfer Plex but i’m testing both anyway I already have a .bif in with the media file and Plex still starts generating thumbnails… is there a setting i need to adjust in media server to get it to recognize the .bif that’s already generated… maybe i need to upgrade to beta version of Plex media server

Plex will not use bif files from other sources.

oh i didnt know that… is there a way to store the .bif file in the media folder?
