Store in media folder

Will there ever be an option in Plex to store things in the media folder
.bif posters and metadata This would help a lot

Could you be more specific as to what you want to add?
I suppose you refer to adding more “local media assets” alongside your videos for Plex to pick them up (as it already does for posters, backdrops etc.).

Actually I think he is talking about an option like Emby has to place downloaded artwork and metadata stored in an NFO file and the “bif” files generated for FF/RW alongside the media files themselves.

This option does allow easier “Local media assets” but it also makes in easy to maintain what is seen by the main program and it saves space on the system drive,

That is instead of hiding all the files in some sub-directory under cryptic name the support files are just stored alongside the media files they support.

You end up with a director structure like:

04/20/2019 09:19 AM 7,755,731 The Stepford Wives (1975) -320-10.bif
05/31/2020 07:30 PM 54,778 The Stepford Wives (1975) -clearlogo.png
06/18/2020 05:31 AM 87,010 The Stepford Wives (1975) -fanart.jpg
05/31/2020 07:30 PM 112,159 The Stepford Wives (1975) -poster.jpg
08/11/2018 06:10 PM 1,941,814,762 The Stepford Wives (1975) .mp4
06/18/2020 05:32 AM 7,113 The Stepford Wives (1975) .nfo

And those are the files that get read during access.

Yes

pretty much like this
