Would love to hear if using chatgpt in Plexamp produces decent results (before putting credit into my OpenAI account (as otherwise I use different AI services)).
Can it give good results for queries such as:
“Give me a playlist of 100 rock songs from the 90s with at least 3 stars”
or
“Give my a list of 20 high energy electronic songs released after 2010 that are at least 5 minutes long”
Ah, so this article incorrect? It says you can use gpt with your plex audio library
ie “Although Plex’s GPT playlist generator can work with music on a personal media server, you’ll get the best results by plugging in a Tidal account.”
Is there a help page describing on what openai integration does and how to use it esp if it can’t see your audio files.
I was excited to use it after that link (and others describing this service) gave examples of
“90’s grunge deep cuts, starting with Alone by Pearl Jam, no music by Mudhoney”
“Just the funkiest smooth jazz you can find, lots of Jeff Lorber, Mike Stern, and Spyro Gyra” (Sorry.)
“A playlist that alternates between thrash metal and classic show tunes”
It was correct at the time of its writing.
But now that Tidal support is no more, the AI feature has lost most of its usefulness.
Because it doesn’t know what is actually in your personal library, so it cannot give you recommendations based on that.
Whoever cracks this (using natural language to create custom playlists based on metadata) will be ahead. I’m surprised spotify hasn’t done this - I was so dissapointed in spotify (the interface is atrocious) that I’ve gone back to my own music collection and, thus, plexamp.
