Server Version#: 1.29.0
Player Version#: 1.26.1 (HTPC), 2.58.0 (PMP)
PMP displays the main interface full screen even on my 21:9 display ie. Ultrawide (3440 x 1440) resolution. While I appreciate Plex HTPC is a much much better/improved etc incarnation it is focused exclusively toward 16:9 1080p/4K and above displays - how long will it be before Plex HTPC will accommodate 21:9 natively in all aspects ie. interface and presentation akin to PMP?
As a Lifetime Plex Pass user I really want to upgrade from PMP to Plex HTPC asap but until native 21:9 support is included in all aspects of the interface etc. I’m stuck and surely not alone in this requirement.
Thanks and regards.
For Television and Movie viewing that is not a standard resolution. Using a computer and gaming sure. I highly doubt they will ever fit that resolution without black bars on the side. And really, you’ll have that when watching a movie anyway since even 4k doesn’t hold that aspect ratio. or your movies are really stretched or cut off a lot top and bottom.
I acknowledge that movies/tv will not necessarily fit the UW unless anamorphic or close to 21:9 but I’m referring to the actual Plex interface more than the ‘presented’ format.
PMP fills the entire screen, Plex HTPC leaves big blacks bars right and left. Aesthetics I appreciate but why can Plex HTPC not accomodate like its predecessor?
That is only affecting the resolution, but not the aspect ratio of the UI.
It has been said that it’s unlikely to see a Plex 10-foot UI in any other aspect ratio than 16:9.
(unless the majority of all TVs are suddenly made in 21:9 or something)
As stated somewhere in the HTPC feedback thread the UI is hardwired to 16:9 and changing that requires a massive redesign of the architecture. Changing this is highly unlikely.
Out of curiosity, why are you trying to use HTPC on the PC you sit at? Even if you happen to have a viewing spot not right in front of the monitor, I’m not sure what HTPC is more interesting to you for this use than Plex for Windows.
