Hi All
I have downloaded and re-install the "latest" version from Plex website. Got it to connect. But now all my Android devices say
"found [server] but wasn't v0.9.7.13 or newer"
How do I check the version to make sure I have a newer version?
All help appreciated.

In Plex/Web, Settings -> Server.

that is a very old version, newest is .9.9.12
Is there a way to tell which version of PMS through a terminal (ie: Ubuntu, or other Linux distro)?
the version is in the exec’d command line, so anything that shows a process list will give you the version…
e.g. ps -ef
or any of a 1000 other commands

Nearly 3 years old and not a decent answer here:
trying to find in Media Player is annoying but can at least be found in Authorized Devices
or
Ubuntu Terminal:
sudo dpkg -l plexmediaserver
or
ps -ef | grep plex
Windows I have no answer, and if I did the answer would be “format disk and install ubuntu.”
FOR GOD SAKE PEOPLE ANSWER QUESTIONS PROPERLY.

With distributions using rpm:
rpm -q plexmediaserver
will return what the package manager sees installed. This does not depend on PMS actually running.
