I’ve found references to “album collections” in the filters for a music library (both Web UI and iOS app), but I can’t seem to find where to add a collection tag to an album. The collections option does show up on the Tags tab when editing an artist, but not an album. Driving myself crazy trying to find it. Thanks for the help.
Unfortunately this feature is missing. There is a feature request for it. Please add your vote by clicking ‘Like’ on the first post in that thread.
I’m wondering if this isn’t a symptom of Plex’s “release ugly, release often” (that’s my term for it, not theirs) strategy. They are well known for releasing builds with half-finished features, apparently not concerned with how annoying it is.
I don’t believe there is a way to add a collection tag to an album, despite the fact that the ability to filter albums by collection is built in to the UI. As a work around, I created faux genres so that I could group/filter albums by “collection.” It certainly wasn’t the answer either of us were looking for, but it effectively produces the same results.
In my case, I tag my MP3s with the faux genres. You could also chose to add the genre to the album using the PLEX UI, as well.
@srewobwj, that genre trick is a cool idea. I just gave it a try by adding custom genres to some albums via the web UI. At first, I didn’t think it worked, because the album genre filter in the web UI only displayed “artist genre” values. However, it does work correctly in the iOS app. Weird.
Hi, I’m a newbie on Plex so sorry if this question is too basic. I want to move all my iPhoto Albums to plex so I need to know the best way to do it. Do I need to create first the albums in Plex? if so, how do I do this? any help, suggestion is welcome.
