How to direct play 4k without transcoding? (Fire stick 4k max, Kodi with Plex addon)

Hello,

I have Plex server on windows, fire stick 4k max with Kodi/Plex add on for playing in local network. Need Kodi as I cannot enter local network IP of my server with original Plex app…

Even when I force “do not transcode video” Plex try to transcode my 4k file and I got a message “no CPU available” when trying to play it from my fire tv 4k max.

If I disable it then Plex try to transcode but my server cannot handle it… So I would like to direct play.

Can someone explain me to complety disable transcoding so I will be able to direct play my 4k file like it is done on 1080p ?

All my resolution are set to “original”.

Thanks in advance!

If your player is 4k capable or should be able to direct play in the normal Plex app automatically without you changing a bunch of settings. You need to post info about the actual file and maybe the client logs too for us to help figure out why.

If you’re using Kodi and the Plex add-on there are checkboxes for 4k and HEVC you need to turn on on the settings, but that’s all on that.

Thanks you very much, indeed I check a checkbox in Kodi for 4k and no it work !
Thanks !
