I cannot figure out how to Display Info on the FireTV Stick so I can understand which movies direct play.
Can someone describe how to do it? Thanks
You have to drill into the playback settings on the new player. Yes, it’s a PITA.
What I do, temporarily (I do kinda like the new player), is to disable the new player in the settings and make sure ‘Display Information’ is enabled. Then, using the old player, when you bring up the OSD the info will be displayed without further ado.
You can turn the new player on or off as required - for now at least.
The best approach though, is to open the Dashboard page of the web app (or [Tautulli])(Tautulli - Monitor your Plex Media Server “Tautulli”) in the web browser on second device (e.g. mobile phone, tablet, laptop etc.)
That’s a good idea since ultimately, a server setting may need to be accessed, but the FireTV Info Display for the old player has the unique ability to tell you exactly why there’s a transcode in progress (not always, but mostly), not only that there IS a transcode in progress, sometimes making it easier to seek and destroy.
So, there are good reasons to do both.
