Hi all
If you are like me, then you have been desperately searching forums, Google etc for a way to get a list of everything you have in your PLEX libraries into XL or something similar.
I am not that computer literate so was put off by using SSH Terminal commands and add-on programs. I just wanted something simple and I have been looking for a long, long time to find something. Today, I found a solution!
If this is obvious and everyone already knew how to do this then I apologise but I was so relieved and happy to have worked it out that I wanted to post and share this solution before I got distracted by something else and forget to do it.!
These steps were for me and some are very obvious but I have a terrible memory so wanted it simple so I can do it again!
-
Go to Synology Nas - File Station- and then to the media folder where you store all your movies etc. -
Select all titles (they should then be highlighted a different colour). -
Right Click – at the end of the list that pops up is Share - click on that. -
A box comes up – in file path box - select all – copy -
Open XL on your PC - Paste – all your movie titles should appear.
That’s it but some useful tips for the XL part are shown below (my bad memory would mean I would have to Google this every time!)
-
In XL – Ctrl+F - brings up Find/Replace box -
Click on Replace then type in the 'Find what' box enter the destination path info you don’t need eg. /MEDIA/Movies/ -
In the *'Replace with’ field = do nothing/leave blank -
Press 'Replace all' - it will tell you how many replacements it made (should be all). Press 'Close' -
All your movies should now be listed in alphabetical order!
-
One final tip - in XL if you want to add tabs to separate your media
categories eg Movies, TV shows etc then it’s Shift +F11
Hope this helps!
