How to force extensive media analysis of files?

I’m wondering how to force Plex to run an extensive media analysis?

I need this so that “required bandwidth” for each stream can be accurately calculated for new media.

Only option I can see is to go into the “scheduled tasks” tab and change the hours Plex runs maintenance tasks.

You cannot force this. This only happens during the scheduled task.

Wasn’t that done with’Plex Media Scanner --analyze-deeply --item <id> or was that a different analysis?

That’s the one. But it’s difficult to trigger on Android…

Okay thanks for confirming. I’ll just keep manipulating the scheduled maintenance “on” times as required.

WebTools-NG can kick off the scheduled tasks (Butler Tasks), including Deep Analysis.

I used it earlier today. I replaced a couple of movies with higher quality versions. I then launched WebTools-NG on my PC and told it to start Deep Analysis on my server. About a minute later the Plex server started deep analysis on the new files.

My server runs on Ubuntu. No idea if it works with Plex Media Server running on a Shield.

Can we request this to be added as a param to the /analyze api call ?

Good suggestion. I was actually surprised to find out that the “analyze” command does not do this.
