When you authenticate using https, plex requires a hostname in the form of:
9-9-9-9.KEY.plex.direct
How/Where you obtain this plex.direct key?
Your server is getting it automatically when it starts up and signs in to plex.tv.
You can monitor this process in the Plex Media Server.log (with ‘debug’ logging enabled)
