How to ignore same photo duplicate formats (JPG and RAW) in photo library??

My photos folders are organized by year with subfolders of months (e.g. 2014/2014_01 , 2014/2014_02 etc etc). Each subfolder contains 2 copies of each pic, one JPG and one RAW (.NEF).

The first time I added the library, it updated fine and did all the thumbnails but i obviously got duplicate pictures but they displayed ok thru webclient and samsung smart tv clients

To remove dups, i created .plexignore with *.NEF, *.RAW, *.ORF

Then I deleted the library and re-added it. Now the dups are gone in the thumbnails but it take **forever ** to load or play pictures. The samsung clients times out and the webclient takes over 10s to show the first picture.

only solutions i can think of are:

  1. chmod 600 so that plex cannot read *.NEF, *.RAW, *.ORF?
  2. create a duplicate file structure with symbolic links to the JPG files (explicitly excluding the *.NEF, *.RAW, *.ORF files)

I am running PMS 1.0.3.2461 on 10.3 (nas4free) with zfs raidz1

any other suggestions on what to try??

I’d like to know this, too. Are you using a Lightroom library?

No, just created the directory structure myself with folders for years and subfolders for months. any help greatly appreciated!
