Just like in Linux, mixing package and compiled sources in FreeBSD, when installing or thinking of upgrade paths is the first step down to Dependency Hell.

We have pkgng which is built every week, you might have a minor issue but in general it works pretty well, so the "first step down to Dependency Hell" isn't really relevant in this case. The pkgng system works well.

Hugely helpful! Ā I read several posts about updating, and the consensus was updating your own install is easier than updating the plugin. Ā Plexmediaserver saw my files without adding plex to the group owning the mnt in the jail, but I did it anyway. Ā I have an iTunes 11.1 library, and the Plex iTunes scanner is broken for this version. Ā I fiddled around a while thinking it must be a permission issue, but then I switched back to the default Plexmedia scanner (after more post reading), and all is well. Ā This is fabulous! Ā THANK YOU!

thank you very much mtucker. i confirm that this solution is working but one correction is needed (in red)
portsnap fetch extract
pkg update
pkg upgrade
cd /usr/ports/multimedia/plexmediaserver-plexpass/ && make install clean
echo plexmediaserver_plexpass_enable=āYESā >> /etc/rc.conf
service plexmediaserver_plexpass start
enjoy!
Edit: i forgot: this is working in a fresh created jail as mtucker says
Edit: this is for FreeNAS-9.2.1.7-RELEASE-x64 (fdbe9a0) / OOB Jail-Template pluginjail : http://download.freenas.org/jails/9.2/x64/freenas-pluginjail-9.2-RELEASE.tgz
I have plexpass but installed plex on my FreeNAS from the previous page before I saw the above version. Whatās the difference in the versions? I can still login.
If I need to install the plexpass version, is the best way to just create a new jail and start again, or can I uninstall this version and then install the plexpass version?
Many thanks.
Some help!!, Iām trying to install the Plex pass version, I follwoed the steps here and everything seen to install correctly, however once I go to http://ip/32400/web it asked me to log in and then the server doesnāt show up.

I figure it out, my wireless is on a different network subnet, i went a connect to my netwrok switch using a ethernet cable which got me into the same subnet as the newly installed plex server, after I logged in it showed me the newly server as āUnclaimedāā¦I claimed it and now it show up normally.
