When I try to manually update PMS in an ‘old-style’ jail on FreeNAS (I haven’t bothered moving it, because it works fine, and I’m worried something may go wrong), I have been getting this error message for a while now. Can somebody please tell me how I can solve this? Thanks
Thanks for the reply. Here is the full output of the console:

I also get this error when trying to run the upgrade script:
Starting Plex Media Server …plexmediaserver_plexpass does not exist in /etc/rc.d or the local startup
directories (/usr/local/etc/rc.d), or is not executable
Same problem here. Using PMS upgrade script on a jail in FreeNAS. It has been successful in the past but now there is a problem. If I run the install script in automatic update mode it says I already have the latest version of Plex plugin. I also tried the manual force install and I get an error.

I went ahead and edited the PMS_Update script myself, just removing the “-plexpass” and “_plexpass” parts from the script and it did update to the new version.
But now I get “Server settings not available”. Any ideas how to solve troubleshoot that?
I don’t quite understand. This edited file does seem to work for me

But then when I startup Plex, it still tells me “A Plex Media Server update is available for the server FreeNas! 1.1.5.6.1079”. Which seems to be the one I apparently just installed… Am I missing something?
You should check the path of your plex installation in the plexmediaserver service file in /etc/rc.d or /usr/local/etc/rc.d. If it is not /usr/local/share/plexmediaserver, you should change path in the script I edited accordingly.
What changed as I am having the same issue but nothing has changed on my freenas server. The update script has worked forever and now all of a sudden I am also getting the error stating it was not in the directory the script expected. On some other forums they suggested upgrading to the latest freenas version but I am weary of doing that out of fear of losing all of my plex meta data and settings not to mention for whatever reason in windows 10 I have had a lot of trouble getting the shares to work and getting remote to work on plex. Is there any chance this update script which has worked for years will get fixed to work again
I add the same issue and fixed it by updating Freenas and install Plex with new version of Freenas
freenas) . Don’t ask me the difference I have no idea.
Anyway, if you update freenas your actual Plex will not be visible in freenas but still be accessible. You can then install the
new version of Plex through the graphic interface.
At the end, copy the metadata from the warden plex (old) to the iocage plex (new). You should find some tuto but basically it is
just copy/paste from one folder to the other
Another plea for this to be fixed. It seems the only choice is migrating to iocage. For my use, iocage serves absolutely zero purpose. I only use FreeNAS for Plex. Warden jails work perfectly well. The script to update Plex in FreeNAS used to work perfectly well. I have never seen a Plex plugin update in FreeNAS so the manual script has been the only way to ever keep Plex current. I just don’t understand why it is now so difficult to keep Plex up to date?!?
I had a similar problem, but i solved it within a iocage jail by adding the following statement to my /etc/rc.conf file:
plexmediaserver_plexpass_enable=“YES”
I installed the Plex Media server using the “pkg install plexmediaserver_plexpass” command and using the plexmediaserver_plexpass repo. I have been able to upgrade my Plex Media server using these commands in a script:
service plexmediaserver_plexpass stop
pkg update && pkg upgrade -y
service plexmediaserver_plexpass restart
How can I add that repo? When I try to run “pkg install plexmediaserver_plexpass” I receive
