How to install PMS on Pine64+ (2GB RAM)

Hi guys,

I’m trying to install PMS on Pine64+ Linux (Debian Jessie Mate) but with no success.

My knowledge with Linux is very limited and I’m trying to follow guides but those are to old and some links are broken.

Hope that you guys will be able to help me out.

I’ve also tried to download the Linux version installer from the download section but for some reason I cannot open the file.

Best,
Moshe

I cannot believe but it worked! now all left to do is test if this configuration is better then my current one.

As far as I understand no transcoding support only direct.

Best!

Moshe.

so after setting Plex server on my Pine64 I’m gonna need a way to remote access it since I will not attach the Pine64 to a screen.

Any way to make TeamViewer run on Pine64?

It’s Linux, so use SSH (terminal).

You’re right but my Linux knowledge is limited so it would be easier for me to use a desktop version of Linux and remotely access to it.

It would have been nice if there was a way to run Plex on Android based OS since Pine64 does have an Android OS as well to Linux.

Well you can install any linux distro with a desktop environment (or add a DE to your existing install) and install a VNC tool to use remote desktop.

Depending on what you want to administrate, you would need to use the terminal anyway, even when using the remote desktop. Since Plex brings its own web interface neither remote desktop nor SSH is necessary to adminster it.

So long story short: I would advise to use SSH and learn how to use it and learn a bit about linux. It’s fun

Definitely learning Linux on the fly is a must.

My main usage is with TeamViewer so that a bump that I will have to switch to VNC.

Thanks!

Which release of debian is installed on your Pine? You write that it is the MATE release, which already has a working desktop environment (MATE) on-board. So you just need install whatever VNC solution you prefer and use this, this probably also depends on what client you are using but I am not an expert in VNC solutions.
