I disabled Plex update service in Windows, disabled any server updates, everything is set to “Ask me” and it does indeed ask me, but unlike the server, doesn’t give me an option to “Skip this version” only restart now or later.
If I restart the app, Windows asks me to give PMP admin permission so it can update itself. I refuse to do so and it closes. Then I can try to open it again and now it will open.
While technically I can suppress its update process this way, it’s quite annoying and I don’t want to accidentally click “Yes” when prompted for admin permission so is there a way to disable this altogether so that it will never even check for updates?
I also can’t figure out why anyone would want to turn off updates on PMP. It’s not like Plex is planning to send out a “we’re turning off PMP!” update. Heck, enjoy the updates while they continue to come out and fix problems.
close PMP and end the pmphelper process in Windows task manager
go to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\PlexMediaPlayer\cache\updates
and clear it out
(you might want to save the content someplace else, incase you want this installer for later)
