Disable PMS Updates - PLEASE Help!

Server Version#: 1.28.2.6151
Player Version#: NA

I implore someone with ACTUAL knowledge on disabling PMS automatic updates to teach me how. I’ve posted this topic before and gotten nothing useful. About once a month, at 2AM, I’ve got to rip myself out of bed in a half-sleep state, log in remotely to my Plex server machine, uninstall the version I’ve just been updated to, and reinstall and older version.

This works sometimes, sometimes it corrupts my database and makes things worse. I know Plex wants to shove new features and ways of making money down out gullets, but there really should be an out for people that have been with them from the beginning and just want to watch their own content.

Every new major release since 1.25 has broken my setup. Somehow, I was able to get 1.26 stable, but now, regardless of the methods I use to prevent updating, I end up with 1.28 and a useless multimedia setup that I can’t even watch locally.

PLEASE! I don’t need any schooling on the virtues of staying up to date, let me figure that out on my own. I just need a sure-fire method of making the update process MANUAL (no, there is NO OPTION in server settings to allow that), and letting me decide on my own WHEN I want to upgrade, and to which version.

PLEASE! This is extremely frustrating.

Cheers
D

Change Server version updates to ask me and it won’t auto install

It has always been on that option, it has always installed (or at least attempted to do so and left my remote machine with an unstarted version of an updated version of Plex that I did not authorize.

I’ve also made certain there are no disparate clients out there pressing that lovely “update” button when displayed and various players.

If you can provide logs after the next update, I can take a look.

Can you tell me the specific name of the log files you need? It’s done it abloodygain.

The entire folder noted in the plex server log article. Depending on the issue we might browse thru 5-10+ logs

EDIT: I suspect you have at least minor database corruption which is preventing the upgrades.

I need the “Plex Media Server.X.log” file right before the update is performed.
