How to put my own "poster art" into various media?

I have a wide range of media types (TV shows), other videos, music and photos. I would like to eliminate the “posters” that the Plex, or third-party, agents have found and pulled into as my “posters” . . . and replace them with my own “posters.” I am not sure how to do this.

I will create plain text posters that list the specific media in question. But I am not sure where to place them. I would like to have posters at multiple levels of folders. For example, one poster for a master folder entitled “Classical Music”, a second poster at a subfolder level for “Beethoven” and a third poster at a sub-subfolder level for "Beethoven Symphony #3. I do not wish to have any “posters” or other art at the level of the individual tracks within Beethoven Symphony #3 .

How do I do this? Do I place the specific “poster” (likely to be a JPG file) in the specific folder?

Then do I make sure my “agent” is set properly, followed by a “Refresh Metadata” cycle?

Obviously, I intend to use primarily the “folder” technique for accessing each media.

Please advise. Thank you.

For Movies & TV Shows, see Local Media Assets sections of Media Preparation guidelines.

Not sure about music.

A Plex music library doesn’t support arbitrary folder structures.
There are only
Artists / Albums / Tracks
as structural elements.

Here are the locations and file names for local artist and album art:
