How to re-sync library? [Solved]

Is there a way to re-sync the library on my client without having to open up the plex server and then sync?

What do you mean by re-sync? Please describe what you are trying to achieve.

I download a new movie and place it in my library but it doesn’t immediately show up in the client?

The library is located on Plex Media Server not on client. So after adding new movie, your library get’s automatically updated or do you hit refresh in web app? I just need to be sure we are on the same page.

I know you can set automatic update on the server side for something like 15mins. But I was hoping there was a manual refresh on the client side. I can definitely log into the server and perform a refresh from the web client and it will work. Was just hoping I could do it from the client someone.

I think what the OP is referring to is the long running issue with most all Plex clients where the client doesn’t automatically refresh when the PMS gets new content?

@dweissca, I find that just moving out of a library view and then going back in will updated the client.

@hstamsas this is exactly what I was referring. Not a game breaking bug but would be a nice feature

Ok, I understand now. No there is no trigger from OpenPHT, but instead of setting up refresh interval you could enable detecting changes to library.
There is also option to use Plex Media Scanner via Command Line

Detecting changes to library would be perfect actually. Is this done server side?

Yes. Settings -> Server -> Library. It does not work with network shares.

Awesome thanks

Just so you know, automatic update doesn’t work if you have the content on a fileserver/NAS and the server is on another device (content shared over NFS/SMB or similar).

Hey thanks @clnr for the reply. My plex server and files are on the same server.
