How to roll back

Hello,

I know I probably should know this but I don’t and forum searches, Google searches, and the Plex help site search haven’t helped on this at all.

I upgraded to the latest version of Plex today as the server encouraged me to do but this version keeps having problems and stopping suddenly. I have no choice but to go back to the previous version for it to work.

The problem is, I’m not entirely sure how to roll back to the previous version and I don’t want to risk losing my data. Could anyone please confirm if the process is as simple as stopping the server, uninstalling, reinstalling the previous version and restarting the server, then signing in again? Will this leave all my data in place?

Thank so much in advance. I really appreciate your help.

Uninstall PMS and install previous version from plex.tv/downloads/1/archive

Your libraries and settings will remain intact.

I’d say it would be helpful if you could gather logs and provide for all these issues - before rolling back. But I understand if you can’t or won’t. A rollback on Windows is as simple as uninstalling, just don’t touch any registry or local Plex folders. Then reinstall it again.

As always, backup is regardless recommended and good to have - https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201539237-Backing-Up-Plex-Media-Server-Data - so I’d suggest starting with that.
