I downloaded several songs as a soundtrack, but I cant figure out how to easily make them show up as a sound track. so inside of my Music library, I created a folder named “Stranger Things Soundtrack” I then loaded all of the music I wanted into that folder hoping I would see “stranger Things Soundtrack” in my music folder, instead what I am seeing is the 200 new artists listed. I know I could make a collection, but that is a pain to do. Is there an easier way to make my sub folder show as an album? Thanks
It is certainly possible to make a fake album. Using embedded meta tags and telling Plex to prefer these, this is relatively easy. Just tag the files with identical album title, and identical AlbumArtist.
However, since many of these tracks come from different releases, they are very likely to sound quite different from each other. Particularly loudness-wise.
Don’t expect the loudness levelling in Plex to work correctly with such a Frankenstein album.
Personally, I think you are better off by adding them as distinct albums/singles, then building a playlist or collection out of them.
That way you can play all these tracks in other contexts as well. Like in one of Plexamps radios or guest DJs.
After playing with this a little, I think you have the right approach. I’m going to go that route. Its just going to take some time. Thanks
