HTML5 Gapless Playback on Chromecast

Gapless playback is now supported on both Android and iOS apps. Thanks. Any chance we might see it in HTML5 apps (both web player and Chromecast) sometime soon?

When at home I primarily us Chromcast and having this and normalization would be great.

Is it possible to have the “chromecast” tag/category added to this feature suggestion and the title updated to include the term “Chromecast” to make it easier to find and help prevent others creating duplicates, per Gapless Music Playback on Chromecast. I overlooked this topic while searching the forum for “chromecast gapless” prior to posting the duplicate.

Also, it would be greatly appreciated if a Plex representative could comment on whether gapless music playback on Chromecast is in the pipeline, or not, to assist in deciding how much time and effort to invest in an alternative solution as the current album listening experience using Plex and Chromecast is akin to watching a movie with two seconds of silence and a blank screen between each scene.

It was already tagged with Chromecast. I added to title as well.

The lack of gapless support for Chromecast is a dealbreaker for me. So frustrating that Plex and Plexamp are advertised as gapless and it turns out they are not. Doubly frustrating when you’ve shelled out for a new NAS purely to run Plex (my bad for not doing the research though).

If Plex are looking to pick up some of the many disenchanted Google Play Music users (such as myself) that are about to flood the market, they need to sort this out.

I totally agree now that plexamp has Chromecast added to it.

I was also disappointed to discover using Plexamp to Cast doesn’t result in gapless playback. I use Plexamp exclusively to listen to recordings of live shows on Chromecast devices, so this omission renders Plexamp useless for me.

EXACTLY! Pleeeeease make this a dam priority!

Is there any update on this at least a mod could comment something on this…how the hell people can tolerate or are ok with gaps in between songs boggles my mind…finger nails on a chalkboard ugh

Plex staff, can you please look into this? This is the single most annoying thing about the whole Plex for music experience. Many classical and rock albums require gapless playback, and not having it makes them unlistenable.

Please, we need gapless playback on Chromecast.

From the Plexamp homepage:

Loudness leveling, true gapless playback, Sweet Fades™, soft transitions, a configurable preamp, a parametric EQ, and more. Perfection for golden ears, buttery smooth touches for the rest of us. Custom pre-caching so your music keeps playing, because sometimes life brings you through tunnels.

That tells me that this is in fact not a feature request, but a bug. Can someone tell me how to report bugs?

Also please remove HTML5 from the title of this thread, as it is not longer relevant for this bug.

Is there a moderater whose going to chime in and say something…this is getting ridiculous…what’s the point of plexamp and chromecast if there’s no gapless playback.

I gave up on both PlexAmp and Chromecast due to crappy support from both platform owners in this regard. Switched to DLNA with UPnP renderers. Supports gapless playback and HD audio at 96 KHz and higher without dropouts.
