I’ve been playing around with the HTPC app for a few days, but I haven’t really figured out how I’m supposed to navigate the menus. My xbox controllers don’t work, and mouse doesn’t have full control. Without a wireless keyboard for you living room, you’re out of luck?

Search the plex-htpc section of the forum for “controller.”
There are a few posts about getting the xbox controller to work with Plex HTPC. One mentions that Plex HTPC must be running before connecting the controller. Others discuss mapping the controls.
Please don’t read this as a criticism of you trying to help. However, I didn’t buy a lifetime pass to have to noodle with settings for things to work. If the app doesn’t work out of the box, it isn’t a product.
Plex needs to fix their app so that it functions without the user deep diving into settings.

There are parts of Plex that are a bit rough around the edges. From reading other HTPC threads, Plex is putting in a lot of work on it. Hopefully they’ll get the controller issues worked out.
Plex HTPC is for home theatre use - 10 foot interface.

I’ve never actually tried to use a controller with Plex HTPC. Now I’m inspired to experiment.
There are also multiple tools (such as https://www.rewasd.com/) to make a controller send keyboard shortcuts.
That might annoy you, but it might also be a simple solution.
