Any news as to whether 1.20.2.3402-0fec14d92 is supposed to fix the the broken transcoding? I don’t really want to upgrade to it, test, then have to rollback, if nothing has been changed to resolve this issue yet.
It does not, I’m running 1.20.2.3402 on Windows and having this problem right now. Intel QSV.
The type of file should be direct playing anyways but doesn’t want to oddly enough. I’ll probably end up going back a version where I didn’t notice these issues.
1.20.2 does not contain any media driver “fix”.
What Intel did release was not related to this.
For now, continue to bypass with VaapiDriver="i965"
Hey @ChuckPa not sure if you just saw my name and assumed this was my thread about the low quality 720p transcoding issue, but this was actually a query about the HW transcoding not working at all that started with the first 1.20.2 beta.
I’ll need to see your log files where you attempt hardware transcoding to see what is actually happening (it not working at all).
I am using 1.20.2 on an Intel CPU without incident.
I just updated to 1.20.2.3402 on my DS918+. Hardware transcoding is working. It was not working with earlier 1.20.2 builds, transcoding video on the CPU, not with the GPU ASIC.
Plex Dashboard now shows (hw) on both decode and encode.
