I can't seem to add movies to a playlist on Roku TV

Server Version#: unknown
Player Version#: 6.7.28.7055-f180d1b27-Plex

I’ve just been invited to my family’s plex server. We’ve got all kinds of old home movies on there from generations back that my uncle restored.

I’m trying to add some of them to a playlist so that I can watch those particular ones.

I’m doing this on my new Roku TV. I just bought this so that I can watch the Plex stuff. But I can’t seem to figure this out. I’ve googled this like crazy… Maybe I’m not phrasing it correctly… But I can’t find anyone else complaining about this except one guy on reddit that only had a deleted response.

Any idea here?

I am fairly certain you can not add items to playlists via the Roku client. You will probably need to use the Android app or app.plex.tv. Not ideal, I know.

Thanks for the answer.

I’m not aware of a way to visit app.plex.tv on the TV. Is there something I’m missing?

Yeah you’ll need to access app.plex.tv via a web browser on a PC.

Oh wow. I guess I wasted the money of the roku tv.

After you said that, I looked up and apparently you can do it on a firestick TV but not roku.

Sure wish I would have known that.

Is there any reason why the one on Roku would operate differently from Fire?

It just doesn’t make sense to me.

Unfortunately this is the way with Plex… Sometimes the feature parity across clients is… Lacking.

Okay. Well thanks for your time. I appreciate it

You’re welcome! Like I said, you can create the playlists on other devices and then play them on the Roku, just not a good way to do it on the Roku itself sadly. :frowning:

Oh. Okay, right. So access it on my phone on the website.

Kind of a pain, but thanks for the work around!

Yeah, I also think that the app is free to download, but requires an in app purchase in order to play anything. So you should be able to download the app and create the playlists there - might be easier than the web on your phone.

I’ll give it a shot. I’ve already dumped 450, to watch old movies… Surely the app doesn’t cost more than 20. Thanks again man

Damn man, that sucks… But old family movies can be priceless! Yeah I think the app is only like $5 if you do have to pay.

Happy to help - feel free to shoot me a PM if you need anything else.
