I installed a new router and now Plex cannot be found on my NAS Synology system

Your log files are showing me that it’s working just fine.

I think, with all the moving of files you did, something got corrupted in the Plex share.

Tomorrow, Take your time, go through each step; understand what each step is about rather than doing blindly.

I didn’t move any files before though. Set new router up, had to change the IP of my NAS, Plex would work on my iPhone and smart TVs, but remotely and on the computers it wouldn’t find the media server. Hopefully starting it from scratch fixes it.

remember to restart DSM

You will also likely have to re-home the apps.
They will be looking for the old server ID.

Sometimes, it’s easier to re-install the app than fuss with it.

Just some extra info. My DSM IP was originally 10.0.1.19, but with my new router I cannot add the range to it. I thought that was the issue, Obviously not. I am starting the new install of Plex now. Thank you.

So it is set up, but it is not letting me claim the server. I click it and it says there was an error.

What’s the error? There are several possible errors.

wasn’t an error number, just said cannot claim server. I was reading that the IP address isn’t private so I changed my 1 to a 0 to see if that will help. I am about to change the IP on the DSM now.

now it says there was a problem signing into Plex

  1. PMS sees the IP address of the Synology (192.168.0.240)
  2. It cannot get out to the internet (notice the Detected primary interface: 0.0.0.0)

My suggestion to you - Use DHCP (router assigned IP addresses) until you sort this out.

Do this for the Mac and the Synology. Restart both after making the change.

192.168.0.x and 192.168.1.x are both “Private Networks” . Changing “1” to “0” was moot.

I changed my router to be 10.0.0.1 and that range, switched the NAS to DHCP, now working on Plex and it say says this A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server.

Ok… that makes more sense and is resolvable.

  1. Uninstall the package
  2. Restart DSM
  3. Delete the folder Library in the Plex shared folder.
  4. Install the package
  5. Allow it to start up. (wait 2-3 minutes after you install for those data structures to create)
  6. Now open PMS.

The error you got will appear if we try to open PMS before it’s ready when installing.
It’s a timeout error. There’s nothing really wrong other than it’s not ready yet. (the browser didn’t know what’s happening. It only knew it didn’t get a response in time)

I had to change my DNS and then it worked. The DNS on my Server was not the same on my router
