Ignoring sample and trailer files

What are the criteria for ignore files, I thought samples and trailers would be ignored, I started getting "trailer.mov" files in the movie folder and Plex is now adding them as a 2min movie...

Hmmm.

I know if you use the word "Sample" in the filename, plex will ignore it. However I do not believe there is a keyword for trailers to be ignored.

files with "Trailer" in name  and over 300mb will be scanned in.  under 300mb gets ignored.

I believe it will ignore any movie-trailer.??? file where movie matches between the name of the content file.  In other words, some_movie_name.mp4 would be cataloged but some_movie_name-trailer.mp4 would not.  Sample files should be removed altogether before cataloging.

Roger that,  hadn't had issues with sample files I knew they were filtered, thought trailer would be the same but the trailer thing is new for me,  my renamer wasn't working with "movie-trailer.mov",  it was just literally making the file "movie-trailer.mov" and not replacing the placeholder *movie*.

I will tweak and see.   My trailers must be too high of quality (300mb)   file I checked was less than 100mb, but also only 2min.. Perhaps if duration was a criteria to ignore for the movie scanner.

Thanks.

mmm ok interesting. will need to look into that. The main reason they put hat limit on there was they figured a full length movie would be over 300mb and there are a bunch of movies with trailer in the name.

so would "Batman-trailer.mov" be exactly how you would have it named? (i want to test it when i get a chance)

I blew out three "trailer.mov" files all under 100MB and 2min long according to PlexWeb.  I can try renaming one with *movie*-trailer.mov and see if it disappears.
