Feature Request, even if done through an "experimental" flag of some such:
Implement Intel QSV and OpenCL for GPU-accelerated transcoding.
In my testing, I've found anywhere from 25% to 150% increase in speed with no noticeable quality decrease (although the files are ~25% larger). For PMSes that serve many users at once, or handle transcoding of high-quality 1080p, this could really help CPU-bound systems.
Cheers!
I'm just statring with QSV after discovering it existed, and it's brilliant. If PMS could utilise this in supported systems then wow.. what a game changer!10 minutes to encode a Bluray rip vs the 32+minutes Handbrake is estimating now. (I'm curious about your claim of a 25% file size increase).
Ouch - same video, QSV version was 2.6GB compared to 2.18 using the standard h.264 encoder. Maybe I won't bother using QSV unless I'm really on a time budget!
