Still a wanted feature - it is possible in Kodi and Emby and it really improves the experience. Just let us use our local music (theme.mp3/theme.m4a) and we’re good to go.
I was excited to see theme music was a thing (just discovered it yesterday), then immediately disappointed to see that it does not work with movies. 
I just voted for this request because I wish I could listen to the music of Star Wars when I’m in my collection of Stars Wars movies.

I’d love this. Most collections are iconic and thus will have something that defines them musically. Currently I’ve got: Bond, MCU, Star Wars, Mission Impossible, LotR, DC, to name a few. Easy to put music to all that 
I too would love Plex to play a “theme.mp3” for movies. Really seems odd that this works beautifully when queueing up a TV Show, but not a movie.
just add the possibility to add custom mp3. can’t be that hard!

Really want this feature, just the ability to have a theme.mp3 file for a collection that I can link to and have play. It really would put a finishing touch to my collections that I feel they are missing at the minute. Please Please Please add this feature guys!

Agreed! That would be a great feature. At least let us add theme.mp3 manually to the movie folder.
Home in self isolation and have been desperately searching for a way to do this - it would enhance the experience so much!!! And seems to be a simple add? Would love to see it in future…
Please add themes for movies and collections, and / or allow us to play our own theme.mp3 in our movie folders. I don’t see why not if TV shows already offer this.

theme.mp3 support for the movie section.
Just going to add my tuppence to a 6 year old request. The home media centre experience is meant to be one of high polish. Having collections is a massive plus. Collections can be enhanced: when you’re browsing, playing the theme tune increases the immersion factor. Additionally, when you first step into a Collection, why not have an optional scrawl that starts off full-screen and fades to top (similar to bluray menu openings)? Such as Mission Impossible: home users can pull the venerable fuse opening and then fade to a reel / montage of the movie playing whilst you peruse the options beneath

With the addition of intro skipping now actually added to Plex, on reflection; this request seems quite simple… I’m really hoping that they are looking into finally giving us the ability to do this 
Anyone from the staff have any updates on whether we might get this any time soon?

As has been said before, Movies often have even more famous theme music than TV shows.
This would be a great addition and should be easy to find online at a length that does not contravene copyright.
