[implemented] Extras - movie themes

I think the addition of movie extras to Plex is awesome :) A small suggestion I'd like to make is to have movie themes added. They've been in XBMC for a while now and it really makes a difference when you're browsing through extras. Kind of a finishing touch I know, but how about it? Maybe on the to-do list for the future?

For me a feature I am missing most. Please Plex-Team make it possible to add Movie Themes like it is already implemented in the TV Shows.

+1, even if we have to store the theme songs on our own server! Just turn the feature on already…please :smiley:

I understand that most movies don’t have memorable jingles as TV shows, that’s probably why it isn’t important to implement it but I too would love to have this feature. I agree with ScoobyJD, just activate if you can and we’ll host the audio ourselves!

Several request for the same. Most are closed… Hope this is the correct one.

I´d like to have the feature of theme music also for movies…
For the first step It would be okay, when PMS detects a theme.mp3 and plays it…

Whilst it is true that lots of films don’t have clear theme tunes that are worth bothering with there are also many great theme tunes so I think that this would be well worthwhile. Personally I would be perfectly happy if all that was implemented was the ability to use local media themes if there are any issues about finding online sources for movie themes.

yes sure… Playing a theme.mp3 in the movie directory would be enough for me.

YES! please let us have this! I know there isn’t an official source for themes, but letting us who have it use it would really kick up the presenting quality of the server.

I’m not sure if you are allowed to tell us if it’s being worked on atm. but maybe a hint? or at least confirming that this is a feature that never will make it to plex in the near future.

I’m also going to throw in a question regarding video backdrops á la Netflix/Emby. is that something you’ve been looking at or has it been disregarded for the same reason of background theme music?

Funny… my last reply to this thread was before I starting working at Plex :smiley:. Movie themes is something we’re interested in, but I can’t provide detail beyond that. We don’t typically discuss timelines and such, since development priorities can and do shift. Regarding video backdrops, I don’t think I see a feature suggestion in the forums for it yet, so might be worth adding it. As with adding any new feature like that, its development gets prioritized against everything else we’re working on.

You already have a Music Player in Plex. You can already Play a theme from tv-series… Why not only Play a theme.mp3 when it exists in a movie Directory…
I don´t think that this is that difficult ? :smiley:

I would like to chime in as well on this feature. Having a theme song in collections would be great. Imagine making a Marvel Collection, then having the Marvel theme we hear at the beginning of every movie playing in the background as we open the collection.

Naturally the best of all in my opinion would be a short animation that plays with theme music (all self made and stored of course), but at the very least the music alone would be a fantastic addition. There is no need to crawl for the music…let users provide the file. Just add the framework for it.
