[Implemented] Multi User Mode

+1 but it should recognize the user based on the remote being used at the moment.

Some musings on specific features of this I would like to see implemented…

  1. Administrative user account - a special account permission specifically for access to the PMS manager. That way, someone on a different computer but on your local network (or subnet I think) cannot access the manager without administrative access. This will make the manager much more secure than it is for those of us on university campuses, for example.

  2. Parent controls (another very popular feature request) can be integrated easily with user accounts.

  3. myPlex integration. With myPlex, it seems that some of the infrastructure is already there with shared content. It seems that shared content could be integrated with local user accounts on the PMS. That way, watched/unwatched etc is the same whether they access the content over the internet with myPlex or they access the same content over the local network. In my opinion, there won’t even need to be a separate shared content menu option in the client. Instead, all the sections will show up as if they’re on the local network with some other indicator informing the user that the client is accessing the content over the internet (for example, a popup notification during initial buffering with a message saying that the content is being accessed over the internet).

  4. Less important: server syncing. For servers with the same administrative account, they can be synced over the internet (hopefully with https). In my case, sometimes the computer I leave at home changes and I would like to have the servers be the same.

I see this feature as a building block for greater features. Not only have multiple users, but make this access useful for them even when they are not sitting at the TV or at the stereo. Let them use their account data while listening to music on the cell phone or at the office.

If this interest anyone take a look at my suggestion.

I want this desperately.

Is there anything I have to do to vote other than post in the thread?

To vote, go to the first post in this thread and click the little plus sign in bottom right corner of the post. Just above the “reply” and “multi quote” buttons.

Plus 1 times a million! Multi user household. There is no point in keeping track of what is watched if its not by User. Please!

Another +1 from me…

Would be nice for those of us with multiple persons using the Plex client, it has never sat well with me having something like Scarface or Bad Boys in the on deck section sitting next to Pretty Woman on the main screen.

+1 pls

+1 from me too.

ATM we have 2 servers running in a single house and a lot of repeated shows across the 2 just so we have the separation. Would be better if we could combine the libraries, free up some more HDD space and still maintain individual tracking

How the heck would this work? Our TV room has a harmony remote and all 3 members of the family watch TV in that room, but we want different watched/unwatched details per person.. Don't think your suggestion would work.

I think he means the plexremote in the plex app for ios/android. Wich wouldn't be hard to pull of in my opinion, since you can enter which server you want for you content and enter your plexapp data directly into the app as well.

Vote cast. +1

+1 just want to upvote this one.
